The British DJ and producer created “The Rogues,” “Drone Farm” and “My Bunker My Party” for the film. The three pieces appear alongside the original score by Brazilian composer Heitor Pereira on the official 42-track soundtrack, released through Lakeshore Records on May 1, 2026.
Cox announced the project in a social media post and described the opportunity to write for the film as something different from his usual work. He also spoke with Serkis about the creative process and the challenge of matching electronic music to scenes, characters and narrative changes rather than building a track solely for clubs or festivals.
The collaboration gives Cox’s production style a cinematic role within the story. Instead of functioning as separate promotional singles, the tracks were written to support specific moments in the film, including the point at which the balance of power on the farm begins to shift. Serkis said Cox’s dancefloor energy enters the story when the pigs start taking control, while Cox explained that he was given enough creative freedom to interpret the material through his own musical language.
Animal Farm is based on Orwell’s 1945 novella about a rebellion that replaces one oppressive system with another. Serkis’ animated version presents a revised take on the story and features a large voice cast including Seth Rogen, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Woody Harrelson, Laverne Cox, Gaten Matarazzo and Serkis himself.
The soundtrack is led by Pereira, whose previous film work includes Minions and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Cox’s three contributions sit within a broader score designed around the film’s dramatic and comic sequences, giving the techno veteran a different framework for his sound.
Although Cox previously supplied “Carnage” for Serkis’ 2021 film Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the Animal Farm project marks his first time creating a group of original pieces specifically for a feature-film soundtrack. During their conversation, Serkis asked whether he would consider more film work in the future. Cox said he was open to the idea, pointing to the creative challenge of receiving a storyboard and finding the right musical direction for it.
The project arrives during another active year for Cox, but its significance lies outside the usual cycle of club releases and international appearances. By writing music around a visual narrative, he has added a new dimension to a career built across techno, house, rave culture and live performance.
