The announcement marks an important step for Farell, who has built his profile within the European hard techno and hard dance circuit while still in his teens. Youngest In Charge is presented as a fuller statement of the sound he has been developing through club releases, large-scale festival appearances and collaborations with artists connected to the current harder edge of techno.
“Club Acid” provides the first indication of the album’s direction. Running at 145 BPM, the track is driven by a prominent acid sequence, forceful percussion and gradually shifting synth elements. Its structure is designed for high-energy dancefloors, but it also points toward the wider range of influences expected across the complete record.
According to the initial album information, Youngest In Charge moves between hard techno and hard dance while incorporating elements of trance, acid and psychedelic trance. Rather than separating these styles into isolated experiments, Farell brings them into the same fast, club-focused framework. The result is intended to reflect the direction his sets and productions have taken as his audience and performance schedule have expanded.
The title also refers directly to Farell’s unusually early start in electronic music. He began producing at the age of 12 in Liverpool and started performing in clubs two years later, when he still required a legal chaperone to enter the venues. By 16, he had appeared on Boiler Room, with footage from the performance helping introduce him to a much wider audience.
His subsequent releases have appeared through labels including EXHALE, Teletech, doof and HEKATE. Among the most visible moments in that progression was “Prisoner,” his 2024 collaboration with HEKATE founder Sara Landry. The track strengthened his connection with the label and placed his production alongside one of the central figures in the contemporary hard techno movement.
Farell’s catalogue also includes the Jungle Boy EP and tracks such as “3am In Berlin,” while his touring schedule has taken him from UK events to clubs and festivals across Europe. That development gives the debut album a different weight from a routine collection of dancefloor singles. It arrives after several years of releases and performances during which his sound has evolved in public, often in front of audiences significantly older than the producer himself.
Youngest In Charge is not being introduced as a move away from club music. “Club Acid” instead suggests that the album will remain closely connected to the physical energy of Farell’s DJ sets. The broader format gives him room to explore different forms of tension, momentum and melodic influence without abandoning the direct impact associated with his previous work.
The album also reflects the increasingly open boundaries between hard techno, hard dance, trance and psy-influenced production. These sounds have become closely connected across major European events, where artists frequently move between genres that were once treated as separate scenes. Farell’s approach places him within that crossover while retaining the fast tempos and heavy rhythmic focus at the centre of his music.
For HEKATE, the release continues the label’s work with emerging producers as well as established names from the harder techno spectrum. Founded by Sara Landry, the imprint has developed a distinct identity around high-intensity club music and has previously released several Farell productions and collaborations.
