DETAILS:
21 November is the date to celebrate. It is when the annual Drum and Jazz night will take place at Sofia's leading club Escape. As with other editions, the fifth installment of this specific musical gathering welcomes distinct musical talent.
Hard Music and Sounds United is proud to welcome on local ground the world famous drum and bass artists Calibre, and the Jungle Drummer vs. FU project, together with MC Script. The night will also feature the local talent Бalkansky, the enigmatic female singer Milenita and H.M.S.U. artists acidtrip, Konpirator and Mocks. The event will take place in Sofia's club Escape starting 22.00.
No doubt, Drum’N’Jazz stands among the most provocative events ever presented in Sofia, Bulgaria. Each edition brings together forward-thinking artists coming from electronic background (drum and bass in particular) together with acclaimed live performers and singers. Traditionally, the event draws diverse audience from all ages.
The Irish drum and bass producer Calibre gained distinction with his warm and mellow vibes and unmatched depth of musical charater. Starting back in 2000, Calibre has released a good number of 12" and several critically-acclaimed albums. He also runs his Signature imprint, while working together with Marcus Intalex and ST Files on his Mist:i:Cal and St.Cal side-projects.
Oxford duo Jungle Drummer and FU takes over with its unique setup of live drums versus dee jay scratches. Jungle Drummer is among the few that can play 180bpm beats for hours, while FU shows why the turntable is considered a musical instrument. Their set is to be complemented by MC Script's finest lyrical expression.
Ivan Shopov, known by his Бalkansky moniker, represents a mixture of folklore, dubstep, and electronics. His new album, Kuker, is available for purchase through his website.
Drum and Jazz wouldn't be the same without the spefic timbre of Milenita's voice. Her style is hard to be described but easy to remeber. She is familiar with funk, chillout, pop and electronics and is among the few female singers that write their own songs. Milenita will represent a set of mellow hispanic-english songs with a jazzy mood. She will perform together with Surbahar and Bulgarian jazz musicians Martin Tashev (trumpet) and Eko (bass).
