The Magnetic Brothers are an electronic music production duo from Russia and they might just be one of the best kept secrets in the dance music industry. Their following grew immensely over the course of 2010, not only in their home country but also worldwide. The duo’s production style is quite diverse to say the least. They are equally adept at writing beautiful cascading melodies for progressive house and trance, soulful grooves for deep house and twisted rock solid techno. Generally the end product of a Magnetic Brothers production draws on influences from all these styles and that’s what makes many of their pieces so unique. They see it as ‘Romantic Techno’ and they are in fact the 1st Russian Techno Romantics of XXI century.

Arthur & Anton Golubev are two sibling that make up the Magnetic Brothers production team. They have been producing music since 2007 but initially it was under the ‘Duet Mind Brothers’ alias which eventually evolved into the Magnetic Brothers. Their first official release was in May of 2007 under the Duet Mind Brothers alias with the track ‘I Don’t Wanna Stop’, this camecourtesy of the Dub Work label. From 2007-2009 the duo tirelessly worked on their production skills and it really paid off as they amassed an amazing
portfolio of unsigned tracks. Once the new Magnetic Brothers alias was firmly in place the duo had their first release on the excellent Spring Tube label. The ‘Magshine EP’ appeared in December of 2009 and from that moment on the Magnetic Brothers have been an a torrid production pace with 85 total releases and more than 100 tracks over the course of 2010. A wide assortment of quality labels featured their work over this time; Armada Music, Frisky Records, Nellie Recordings, Spring Tube, Balkan Connection, Avenue Recordings, Liquid Grooves, SnoochiBoochi, 49 Records, SSG, CDR Records, Levitate Records, Drops and Bashi were among them. During this time their tracks have been making regular appearances on Markus Schulz’s ‘Global DJ Broadcast Top 15’ compilations and they have received additional radio, chart and club support from: Matt Darey, tyDi, Solarstone, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Woody Van Eyden, Eelke Kleijn, Cid Inc, Lank, Neil Moore and James Grant.

It only made sense that the brothers had a regular outlet for their productions as well so in January of 2010 they created the Magnetic United label. A radio show was also launched at this time on Pure FM which ran for one year. In May of 2010 a relationship was established with the very well-respected Proton Music. At this time a second imprint ‘Deep Blue Eyes’ was created under Proton Music’s Distribution. The first release was the Magnetic Brothers own ‘Monotone and Coloured’ album. This album attracted a lot of attention from both DJs and industry critics for it’s distinctly modern sound and classic progressive influence. ‘Following The Sun’, ‘Girl with Deep Blue Eyes’ and ‘Monotone and Coloured’ drew comparisons to some of James Holden’s early work. In August of 2010 the ‘Monotone and Coloured’ radio show was launched on Proton Radio and continues to run on a monthly basis. Now ‘Monotone and Coloured’ broadcasts on Proton Radio (US), EYE1 (NL), Eilo (BG), Megaport FM (RU), Radio Vision (RU).

Not content with just producing music for the global dancefloors of the world The Magnetic Brothers have also recently produced a soundtrack for ‘Istituto Marangoni’ which is the leading fashion and design school in
Europe. biggest fashion With even more outstanding productions in the pipeline and slew of great releases planned on Deep Blue Eye 2011 promises to be a breakthrough year for the Magnetic Brothers.
